ASSISTANT EDITOR

Describe yourself in five words or less.

Reliable, quiet, a bookworm, creative.
Editors note: She is also very very wicked. She’s says she’s an angel – ha! We know BETTER!!!

Describe your worst attempt at craft.
I once tried to make padded coathangers but halfway through I realised I can’t sew very well. I think I’ll stick to writing!

If you could master one new skill, what would it be?
Rhythmic gymnastics because it’s so elegant. Unfortunately I have two left feet and they like to remain planted firmly on the ground.

What's your favourite project that's been featured in Handmade?
The pastel Christmas-in-July table setting by Sharon Hawkins was great on the cover of Vol 23 No 3. I also liked the little lilac pincushion shaped like a handbag by Susan Hoad in Vol 23 No 7 – and all the beading projects from Crystal Park. Finally, Judith Tetley’s Anna the Angel cushion and wall-hanging in Vol 23 No 5. We see so many nice ones, it’s hard to choose!

Describe your greatest creative achievement.
Having my Brazilian star ornaments published in Handmade Vol 23 No 3 was a highlight.

How is your home decorated?
Dainty and feminine.

What is your favourite colour and why?
It changes often. Pale pink at the moment, as it’s so pretty.

Tell us about your earliest childhood craft memories.
I remember spending many school holidays at children’s craft workshops and making colourful greeting cards.

What's the best handmade present you've ever received?
A pair of knitted bookworms with tails for bookmarks.

Tell us an unusual or surprising fact about yourself.
I can wiggle my eyebrows separately.

What is your motto in life?
Live your best life. If it’s good enough for Oprah, it’s good enough for me.

Describe any ‘what was I thinking?’ purchases.
What was I thinking when I bought packet after packet of rosettes because they were just so cute – how could I not? But, I had nothing to put them on! Now I have a huge stash of them!

What music do you listen to while you work?
The latest tunes on the radio, or the soft whirr of my computer.
