Let’s just say, I would have been better off spilling coffee over newspaper, then cutting out a section of it and sticking it on some card. If you could master one new skill, what would it be? Riding a motorbike. What's your favourite project that's been featured in Handmade? I don’t have a favourite – every project has character. If I had to choose one, I’d say the shiskabob animals I styled several volumes ago! Describe your greatest creative achievement. Designing the interior of Bob Hawke’s home. How is your home decorated? Minimal with not too much going on! Large items fill up the bulk of the space and there are some pots and urns too. What is your favourite colour and why? It depends on what sort of mood I’m in when I wake up each morning. Every colour is great. Tell us about your earliest childhood craft memories. Moulding the head of an ET doll when I had a broken arm. What's the best handmade present you've ever received? A handmade card that was so simple and effective. I keep it in my diary. Tell us an unusual or surprising fact about yourself. I grew up in Lightning Ridge, living underground in opal mines. What is your motto in life? Less is more. Describe any ‘what was I thinking?’ purchases. There are so many! Probably my expensive rollerblades. What music do you listen to while you work? Whatever the photographers have playing … anything from Fleetwood Mac to Wolfmother. Any amusing anecdotes you’d like to share? I flew from Germany to Australia in first class by accident and wasn’t noticed by the staff!
